Berkley Gulp! Alive! is a great bait that outfishes live bait on a regular basis. I mostly use a 1/8oz jighead with a 3in minnow and have caught eight different species with it, primarily sauger and walleye. I just wish they stayed a little longer. I’ve caught three or four walleye/sauger and need to replace the bait because the fish tears it up to the point that it won’t stay on the jighead (including flipping it upside down after 1 or 2.).
I save the old baits and break them up into 3-4 bits to use on a float/bobber rig to catch crappie and panfish. With bits of the gulp minnow under a bobber, I’ve caught a lot of rock bass, bluegill, and crappie. I understand they are not made of plastic and therefore get damaged more quickly.
