You can always just end up buying some bait for any online store, however it is very likely that some store-bought bait won’t be as effective as some of the homemade ones! That’s why we will take a look at step-by-step recipes!

Chicken Liver

Homemade carp bait, that is based on meat or organs, is always a great choice for fishing carp!

Ingredients

  • Chicken Liver
  • Anise Extracts
  • 1 pound of plain instants grits oat

Steps

First off, make a paste by blending the chicken liver together with your anise extracts.

Then pour the grits into a bucket and add the paste.

Mix until you get a thick dough-like mixture. (PRO TIP! If your mixture doesn’t feel thick enough, just add more grits.)

Make boilie-like balls using your dough.

Bread

Bread is considered a very effective homemade carp bait! It’s extremely useful since you can even use the crumbs to pre-bait in order to attract carps and then use the actual bait to catch them.

In this case there are two options: a) you can buy a bread and coat it with attractants, or b) cook your own bread. If you have enough time and aren’t bored we suggest that you choose option b. Cornbread Mix

Mixing corn and bread as a bait will definitely make an exciting bait!

Ingredients

  •                2 slices of bread
  •                1 can of cream corn
  •                1 box of sweet cornbread mix

Steps

Cut your bread slices into very small pieces.

Mix them well with the other two ingredients, until it turns into a paste.

Let the mixture sit for 15 minutes, so that the bread will absorb any fluids.

Sweet Corn

This small sized and super sweet food, will make the carps go crazy!

Ingredients

  • Honey or Garlic
  • Sweet corn or Feed Corn

Steps

If you choose to recreate this recipe using feed corn, you should start off by soaking it for a couple of hours and then boiling it for around 45 minutes. If you choose to use sweet corn, all you have to do is pick it up and pour it inside a bowl.

If you want to make it sweeter add honey. If you feel like getting your mixture to have a more attractive smell, then use garlic instead.

You can also add color to make your bait more visible, as well as attractants.

Fishing Dough

This recipe is similar to boilies and super easy and effective.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of cornmeal
  • 1 cup of flour
  • Half a pack of strawberry jelly
  • Water

Steps

Mix your flour, your cornmeal and your jelly.

While mixing, add water little by little and knead the dough, until the consistency is correct.

Let it sit for an hour before using it.

Boilies (with ingredients from a fishing store)

Boilies is one of the most known and used homemade carp bait! It is also fun, since it can some in different colors, textures and flavors.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of base mix powder
  • 2.5 ml base activator
  • 7.5 ml strawberry flavor (or any other flavor)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. of color
  • 1 ml sweetener (optional)

Steps

Mix your egg, base activator, coloring, sweetener and flavor in a bowl.

Add the base mix powder and knead until you get a dough.

Form balls with your dough and boil them for 2 minutes.

Remove the balls from the pot and leave them to dry overnight.

Boilies (with ingredients from a supermarket)

Buying your ingredients from a supermarket is way easier for some people, so let’s see this other version for boilies!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of flour or soy flour
  • 1/3 cup of semolina
  • 2 cups of breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup of spinach
  • 1/3 cup of milk powder
  • 1 can of tuna
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp. of fish sauce
  • 1 tsp. of garlic powder

Steps

Mix flour, breadcrumbs, milk and semolina in a bowl.

Add spinach, tuna and fish sauce and mix.

Add eggs and mix until you get a nice consistency that holds.

Put your dough inside a plastic bag, after shaping it like a ball, and let it cool for 2-3 hours.

Put your dough in a bowl and add garlic powder and 1 cup of flour, then knead for a couple minutes.

Make little balls and boil them for 2 minutes.

Remove the balls from the pot, put them on a towel  and let them dry completely for 24 hours.
