Trout, perch and panfish, all of them are more sporting when pursued with balanced equipment that’s appropriately powered. Okuma Celilo Graphite Lightweight Ultra Light begin at just 4-1/2-feet in length and continue to 7-1/2-feet. Within that range, you can choose the perfect performer for dissecting a weedbed, or soaking floating trout bait on a long cast. Whatever your ultralight passion, Celilo Graphite rods deliver great materials and smooth actions that add to the quality of the experience.

It’s safe to say that the Northeast and Northwest fisheries have been in a state of chaos. As a result, these past few years, the lake trout population has rebounded to its former glory, while salmon and steelhead runs in the Northwest rivers are at their highest. A series of fishing rods called Okuma Celilo Graphite was developed with input from some of these waters. Okuma threw their modesty out the window and developed the perfect salmon, trout, and bottom-bouncing graphite rods by executing these actions. If you want to fill your boat with fish, you don’t have to take out a second mortgage.

This rod is used for trout by throwing 1/16 and 1/8 ounce jigs and it works really well. I suspect it would be an excellent crappie rod as well.

The rod was highly rated by several reviewers and was consistently rated as the ‘best budget trout rod’. I didn’t have any knowledge of the Okuma brand before I started my research for trout rods and trout lines, but felt comfortable making the purchase after reading the 9th or 10th positive review. I did less research on the reel but assumed the Ceymar series from Okuma would be a suitable match for the rod.

I was really pleased with the quality of the rod as soon as I opened the box! My expectations were not all that high at the sub thirty dollar price point but whatever they were, they were exceeded. I’m more of a weekend angler than serious fisherman, and I’ve owned plenty of big-box store combo spinning rods & reels that are great for wetting a line and not much more.

The Okuma Celilo Graphite is a HUGE step up from the stiff, rubber-grip or cheap cork, rods that are around on the market.

Product Details

  • Sensitive graphite composite blanks
  • Aluminum oxide guide inserts
  • Stainless steel hooded reel seats
  • Fore and rear cork grips
  • Stainless steel hook keeper
  • Thru-blank handle design

Conclusion:

This is one super fun rod with enough backbone to land good size American Shad and smaller steelhead easily but still sensitive and soft enough for panfish. I totally recommend it for catching trouts and fishing on freshwater river banks.
