Dr. Slick Scissor Clamps may be used for a variety of activities, including crushing barbs, extracting hooks from fish (or yourself! ), opening and closing split shot, knot tying, and cutting tippet, among others. Knowing what activities you perform streamside on a regular basis will help you choose the clamp(s) that are ideally suited to your angling needs. Dr. Slick Scissor Clamps are a very personal object, and just like a favorite rod or reel, everyone has their own preferences. Short clamps are preferred by some anglers, while long clamps are preferred by others.
Straight jaws are preferred by some, while curved jaws are preferred by others. Many like the gold loops/handles and some prefer the stealth-mode black. So, if you lose your buddy’s 5” curved black clamp, don’t think the 4” gold loop straight model you gave him off your vest would clear the air.
The DR. Slick Scissor Clamps are our most flexible collection, capable of handling a wide range of streamside tasks. No joke…we have hundreds of reports (and sadly some photos) from angling MD’s and non-doctors who have used these clamps to stitch up lacerated anglers or break hooks.
