Conclusion:
This newly updated Stradic is Shimano’s smoothest version. Stradic was always a work horse bucket for me, and this new version is very solid and should fit well with saltwater fishing. I’m happy that Shimano removed the back lever on this new bobble. I’m fishing in Hawaï for fast fish like Trevally Bluefin and Bonefish and have never used spinning rolls for the anti reversal function. Removal of the anti-reverse lever makes this belt a little tighter, so I like the change very much. This Stradic, however, is not completely water resistant.
It will leak if it gets submerged. It holds very well, however, when it is fishing in the break. We have noticed that on the side plating there is no longer an oil port screw. You must take this cartridge apart if you want to oil it up. Be ready to take away from it a number of micro torxes, small philips, and torx drivers.
