How many of you have any of those big, thick wood cranks from back in the day stashed away in your tackle box? With each passing year, it appears that finding these valuable small baits becomes more difficult. Is anyone still building one, in fact? We present you the Spro Fat John 60.
John Crews, an Elite Series BASS pro and passionate crankbait fisherman, recalls those baits fondly and produced a new design a few years back that combined the attributes of his popular Little John crank with those of the old school baits. Now we’ll take a look at the Spro Fat John 60.

Despite my best efforts over the last several years to enhance my deep water fishing, I’ll admit that I’ll always prefer crashing a crankbait into shallow cover. It’s been a lifelong addiction for me, and it’s allowed me to spend many years trying and analyzing the various design characteristics of crankbaits. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I’m a crankbait nerd who is extremely proud of it.

SPRO’s Little John 50 is one of my all-time favorite mass-produced crankbaits. That’s why you’ll see it throughout the year in a lot of my photos, videos, and articles. But I’ve been learning a lot and building a lot of trust in its big brother, the SPRO Fat John 60, in recent months.

There are several interesting aspects to this particular crankbait. I have been fishing on large and small bodies of water with a good success rates for a considerable amount of time. It’s not your squarebill, but your traditional flat-sided plug isn’t necessary, either. It’s not. In order to create a unique hybrid, SPRO and John Crews have incorporated various features in each category.
